Alpha Gamma Delta’s philanthropic focus is Fighting Hunger. Food insecurity affects every race, age and community, including the communities where we are placed. That is why we want to be a part of the solution. Partnering with national and local organizations, we are able to make an impact on our communities. We are committed to contributing to the world’s work as our Purpose calls us to do. As a sisterhood, we work together to make a greater impact.
Our impact is enhanced through fundraising for the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation. They provide fighting hunger grants to various organizations that are doing their part in their local community to fight hunger. Here at Alpha Gam, we love to help those within the Columbia Area and beyond as we serve in the community and fundraise for the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation. Not only do we help fight hunger through volunteering at Meals on Wheels weekly, but we also impact the entire community through our Day of Service each semester. Our sisters enjoy serving with other sisters, throughout the semester, but especially on this day as the entire chapter comes together to serve Harvest Hope, Final Victory, Salvation Army and even more organizations.
Besides hands-on service, we are dedicated to fundraising for the greater community through our charity events, Singing for Sami and Hoops for Hunger. We host Singing for Sami in the spring where USC organizations come perform and fundraise at a lip-sync battle. We began this competition after the passing of our late sister Samantha Josephson, to help fundraise and raise awareness for the What's My Name Foundation. This spring, we fundraised over $15,000 for the What's My Name and Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation. In the fall, we host Hoops for Hunger, a charity basketball tournament where other student organizations participate and help us as we fundraise for the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation to fight hunger. Our chapter believes in making a positive impact at USC and beyond.
